"Montaña Amarilla" - yellow mountain - and the
fishing village in Las Galletas with the
delightful port and the marvelous promenade at
the ocean.
In our point of view we understand by Costa del
Silencio also the adjacent peripheral areas of
Las Galletas and "Montaña Amarilla".
Characteristics of Costa del Silencio-
Zona Residencial de calidad turistica
Zona Residencial
Most inhabitants of this village are Canarian.
The tourists inhabit predominantly, called
"Urbanisations", which are typical for Costa del
Silencio and comprise a toal of 100 to 400
apartments. Each ubanisation has its own
characteristics. Inhabitants from all areas of
the world live either as owners themselves in
these apartments or rented out to tourists for
short or long-term periods. The long-term
holiday-makers spend here between 3 and 6 months
in the year, mainly for health reasons. The
total population Costa del Silencio comprises
about 4000 registered persons.
Chasna C is a Urbanisation - built before
approximately 40 years - with approximately 250
apartments. Of all these 200 apartments are in
the property of Germans. There is a tradition
that the apartments are often inherited from
generation to generation. Cleanliness and
general order are typical characteristics of
this Urbanisation. Under these conditions it is
not amazing that free apartments find quick new
buyers.
Comments of some owners:
"Costa del Silencio" is our health resort
to avoid the cold weather in Germany, in
particularly with chronic bronchitis I can the
stay here and so I can recommend it, because
of the pleasant temperatures.
Since 1994 we are in the south of Tenerife and
also my husband feel here despite heart
complaints very well. In the meantime we feel
here domestic and therefor we can recommend
Costa del Silencio for these reasons."

My experiences in Tenerife:
1982 I visited for the first time Tenerife and
spent my vacation in the south of the island.
The first impressions were so positive that I
had decided me to buy an apartment in Costa
del Silencio.
Since 1983 I live in Costa del Silencio and
spend there each year the winter. I do not
regret this decision till today. Due to
climatic conditions it is possible for me to
swim nearly every day in the ocean or to
undertake mountain trips or walks along the
Atlantic coast.

Las Galletas - the fishing village
Las Galletas is a fishing village, which is
predominantly inhabited by Canarierns. The
modern fishing port with the promenade at the
Ocean is a popular trip. One sees the fishing
boats and the diver boats returning home. The
fishery stals offer the freshly caught fish. A
cultural centre offers cultural activities. Las
Galletas is directly connected with Costa
Silencio. Both places form a unit.
Directly at Costa del Silencio is the
protected area "Montaña Amarilla". It is a
nature oasis - unaffected by the traffic and is
limited by the ocean. You receive a photo series

Climate and health
South zone
As example we can refer on the climate zone
of Costa del Silencio, Los Cristianos and Playa
de las Américas. These areas lie in the lee,
where no winds break in and the temperature over
the whole year is constantly warm. Therefore one
can call this climate constant summer, although
the temperatures vary between 20° and 25° C and
are typical very small precipitation. This
climate zone is particularly suitable for such
persons, who suffer from rheumatism illnesses
and chronic neurological complaints, e.g.
multiple Sklerose, asthma and certain skin
diseases such as Psoriasis. In this connection
we would like to refer to Vintersol "to the
hospital", in Los Cristianos. It exists for over
three decades, belonged to the Swedish social
security and predominantly treats rheumatic
patients and chronological diseases.

Concept of Quality Tourism in Costa
del Silencio.
Costa del Silencio is connected as an
economic life basis closely linked with the
tourism. It is the most important economic basis
of this region. To be able to exist successfully
in the international contest, two
presuppositions must be created fundamentally:
1. Mainly tourists must be won for this
place and prefer the long-term vacation for
their health. Besides, it is, first of all,
about foreigners, e.g., older German pensioners.
2. It is required at all costs that the "
Zona Residencial " creates Costa del Silencio
the necessary presuppositions for the tourists,
so that these can also spend their vacation.
These five presuppositions are specified in the

Silencio.

calidad turistica". The reaching one can be
achieved not alone by the authorities, but only
in co-operation and in the confidence between
inhabitants and authorities. The concept is to
point the common goal out and to cause
understanding for the individual measures.
By becoming known the term "Amigos
Costa del Silencio" the contact preparation
is promoted with the tourists and can render
valuable help.
